Right this minute, I can't think of anything I enjoy more than hiking the Duck Inn Trail on Eastern Neck Island. With a chunk of unexpected spare time on our hands yesterday afternoon, we bundled up the family, put our mucks on, and piled into the mini van for the short drive to our favorite trail.
We're usually the only hikers on the trail. The quiet isolation makes it easy for us to be in the moment. Truly enjoying each other and the beauty around us.
The loblolly pines towering over head. Their needles beneath our feet and their fragrance in the air. Our retriever's especially golden fur against the background of the forest. The phragmites whispering in the breeze. My children's giggles as they pet the vivid green moss on the ground. Their oohs and ahhs when they spot the bald eagles soaring above us. The splish-splashing of their rocks being thrown into the Chester River.
It's no wonder this is my family's happy place.
Now that we're in Rock Hall full time, I'm excited about the adventures we have ahead of us as we take in everything that beautiful Kent County has to offer. There will be so many stories and, of course, plenty of pictures. Click here to follow along.
