Over the past few years, I've known Yehudis of Yehudis Goldfarb Photography as the sweet, encouraging voice in our online family documentary photography group. Both of our hearts lie in creating real life photographs that tell a story. We both take a photojournalistic or lifestyle approach to our family photo sessions in order to capture candid and authentic shots that show genuine emotion and interactions.
We follow each other's work and cheer each other on. I enjoy the way she documents her everyday life with her husband and four kids, capturing the "good", the "bad," and the "ugly" in an artistic way that brings out the beauty in all of it. Her children, when they are grown, will be thankful she caught so much of their day-to-day life.
Recently, it was her turn to be in front of the camera with her family. Because we both know her grown kids will be grateful for photos that include her too. Photographs that show the immense love and joy each of them feel for each other.
After seeing one of my Rock Hall beach photography sessions I did last year, Yehudis contacted me about coming to my charming Chesapeake town and having me photograph her family having some summer fun against the gorgeous backdrop of Maryland's Eastern Shore.
As a family photographer, I work alone most of the time. I have found having photographer friends to support and be supported by is essential. It was so much fun to meet my online friend in person. Yehudis lives up to her sweet reputation in real life, and so does her entire family! Not only are they sweet, but they are not afraid to dive in and have fun, as you'll see in these images (just some of the many we created during her session).
