My parents raise Leicester Longwool sheep and every spring their flock grows, much to my children's pleasure.
When my girl was 2 years old, she was partial to their baby lamb named Edward. Again, when my son was 2 he had a favorite, a bottle-fed lamb that my parents named Henry. They still have Edward, he's a couple-hundred-pound ram that is actually still a sweetie. But, Henry was sold to a farm a year or two ago. When we told my son, he asked a lot of questions. As we braced ourselves for reality to sink in, he asked if they could name another lamb Henry. Problem solved.
So, this year, he's made his request. The first two lambs are females (pictured here), but that hasn't fazed him. He sees no reason why one of them couldn't go by the name Henry. Since Mom-Mom and Pop rarely tell these kids no, I'm anxious to see what they decide.
